It’s a Woman’s World: Hublot Spirit of Big Bang Moonphase for the Wrist

Ever wish the moon shone brightly in a few colors other than just a slice of shimmer? If so, Hublot has the answer for you. The new Hublot  Spirit of Big Bang Moonphase watches are offered in shades of blue, purple, orange and pink with incredible color-coordinated quartz crystals, alligator straps, sand-blasted moonphase disc, hands, indices and gemstone-set bezel for a vivid singular color statement. Inside the 42 mm tonneau-shaped case, sits an openworked HUB1770 hand-wound skeleton movement, visible dial side through an enhanced quartz dial made from silicon dioxide (SiO2) and aluminium oxide (AI2O3) melted at high temperature. The quartz is colored by the addition of a mixture of rare elements from the earth. The crystals have a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale. To depict the moon and its phases, Hublot uses a semi-transparent sand-blasted disc revealing two alternating moons  in matching shades. A lunar cycle is reproduced in a large round window that completes one revolution every two lunar months. There is a date indication, as well. The Hublot Spirit of Big Bang Moonphase alternates polished, satin-finished titanium or King Gold surfaces. Its bezel is set with 48 blue, orange or pink sapphires, or amethysts depending on the model. Water-resistant to 100 metres, the Spirit of Big Bang Moonphase has a power reserve of 50 hours....

Why You Need the Audemars Pigeut 40th Anniversary Frosted Gold Royal Oak Watches for Women

Why You Need the Audemars Pigeut 40th Anniversary Frosted Gold Royal Oak Watches for Women

At the recent Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH), luxury watch brand Audemars Piguet unveiled a stunning new collection of Frosted gold watches. The  Audemars Piguet 40th Anniversary Frosted Gold Royal Oak watches utilize a unique “hammered” gold technique that celebrates the shimmer of gold, the art of craftsmanship and the first ever ladies’ Royal Oak, which was originally unveiled in 1976. The first Royal Oak for women was designed by Jacqueline Dimier, top designer for the brand forty years ago. This year, the new  40th Anniversary collection of Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Frosted Gold watches have been developed in tandem with Florence, Italy, jewelry designer Carolina Bucci, who created the new finish for the stunning women’s watches. In fact, the  technique of  Florentine (hammered) Gold was perfected more a century and a half ago, and since then many top jewelry houses out of Florence have further developed their own looks. Carolina Bucci has developed a special technique for hammering gold wherein she makes every tiny indentation by hand, working with a diamond-tipped tool to create the “frosted” effect. The anniversary collection includes rose gold and white gold versions. While the smaller, 33mm-sized watches are powered by quartz movements, the larger siblings house mechanical calibers. Why you need it So, in the end, this is a stunning look that sets the Audemars Piguet 40th Anniversary Royal Oak Frosted Gold watches apart from anything else the brand has made in decades. The look is guaranteed to hold up through fast-moving trends and remain a classic … holding its value, as...

Rendez-Vous  Secret A dazzling tribute to femininity is the Rendez-Vous Secret watch. Secret watches hold such a special meaning and date back to the days when women were supposed to be discreet about watching the time. The secret watch enabled them to show off the beauty of a piece of jewelry that only they knew also contained a watch. Here, we bring you that article and a look at one prime example of how Harry Winston deftly blends high jewelry and watchmaking in a new secret brooch watch set with more than 12 carats of diamonds. Just in time for the holidays—and the wonderful black-tie soirees that punctuate the season—Harry Winston celebrates time (it’s the most wonderful of the year) in true style. Turning to its rich roots as a purveyor and designer of diamond jewelry, the house unveils the new Art Deco-styled My Precious Time, a brooch-watch design decked in 368 dazzling diamonds weighing 12.4 carats in all. Inspired by men’s pocket watches, the stunning timepiece is as versatile as it is exquisite, transforming from a jeweled brooch to a quartz-powered watch with the touch of a “button” (a marquise-cut diamond attached to a latch). When released from the 18-karat white-gold pin, the secret octagon-shaped dial—suspended from the pin by a subtle chain—shimmers with 142 brilliant-cut diamonds. Spilling onto both sides of the “case” are 63 brilliant-cut diamonds, 20 baguette-cut diamonds, and six marquise-cut diamonds. A large 1-carat cushion-cut center stone surrounded by a floral motif accents the geometric lines of the brooch, with an additional 136 brilliant-, baguette-, and marquise-cut diamonds adorning the rest of the design, with 70 baguette-cut diamonds invisibly set to form the cylinder shape of the...
